Friday Is Bride Day | Solange’s Wedding
This past Sunday, Solange Knowles (Queen Bey’s sister) got married to the most handsome 50 year old man that I have ever seen. Solange has been one of the people that I look up to for style inspirations; her boho-indie-70’s style just works for her. She usually looks good no matter what she wears (except for that Met Gala dress) but for her wedding she made sure that she pushed limits, crossed boundaries, and SLAYED!
I am a person who loves everything big, gaudy, and over-the-top so when I saw Solange’s actual ceremony dress it was so simple but so everything all at the same time. It is one of those dresses that is truly a classic and timeless piece, 20 years from now it will still be relevant. Sometimes I feel that brides wear these outrageous or “in trend” dresses that look good for right now but 20 years from now they might be saying “why the hell did I wear that?”. On her way to the ceremony, Solange rode bikes with her hubby-to-be in an amazing low-cut, backless jumpsuit designed by Stephane Rolland and I am dying over it and have found new inspiration for my future wedding looks. Yes I said looks because there will be more than one and no I’m not getting married but I will opt out of wearing a reception dress like I had planned and wear a jumpsuit instead because if you saw the drool that is coming out of my mouth right now when I look at Solange’s pictures then you would understand.
All you ladies out there that just got engaged, renewing your vows, or are single and collecting pieces for your scrapbook of your perfect wedding, try going for a clean classic look for your wedding day. You don’t want to have big crazy hair, a tiara AND a head chain, MAC’s Heroine lipstick, and a pink dress. Stick to the basics, prepare to slay, and remember you are marrying the love of your life.
