Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Campaign
I have been seeing pictures swirling around the internet about Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2017 Campaign and I didn’t believe it until I saw all the photos from the campaign. Let’s just say Gucci is “WOKE”. They are promoting their new campaign ad featuring only black models depicting vibes from the 1960’s era. You can see that there are jazz and soul infused influences within the photographs, melanin poppin’ skin, and natural hair being paraded throughout the campaign. Bold colours, floral prints, and gaudy gold jewelry are what Gucci has in mind for the upcoming fall season and I am here for all of it.
In 2017, I shouldn’t be shocked to see a whole fashion campaign or a whole runway show featuring models of colour but unfortunately, the fashion world is still behind when it comes to diversity when promoting high end designer collections. I would love to see the fashion industry make a change and start having all Asian campaigns or all Latina campaigns etc. Some designers have started to incorporate diversity within their collections and brands but we still have a long way to go.
